Welcome to the Texas Art Project
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is pleased to present its collection of Texas Art Project microfilmed archives from Texas artists and arts organizations.
Between 1976 and 1984 the Smithsonian Institution's Archives of American Art sponsored a project to create microfilm copies of Texas artists' and arts organizations' historical archives at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Hundreds of thousands of documents from hundreds of Texas artists and arts organizations were microfilmed and preserved at the Museum.
The MFAH, in collaboration with the Archives of American Art and the University of Houston Libraries Special Collections received a TexTreasures 2020 grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission with funding from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to digitize selections from this microfilm and make it available to the public for education and scholarly research.
